Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted CNN's invitation for a potential second debate and has challenged former President Donald Trump to join her.

Harris's campaign chair, Jen O'Malley Dillon, stated on Saturday that the Democratic nominee is "ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump" and confirmed acceptance of the debate scheduled for October 23.

"The American people deserve another chance to see Vice President Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots," O'Malley Dillon emphasized.

In a separate statement on X, Harris urged Trump to join her on stage.

At a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trump responded by claiming it was "too late" for another debate, citing the 45 days remaining until Election Day. "The problem with another debate is that it's just too late; voting has already started," he said, suggesting Harris wanted the debate because she is "losing badly."

Following their initial debate on September 10, the Harris campaign quickly pushed for a second encounter. Trump, however, has indicated he won’t participate after his June debate with President Biden on CNN.

"Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate," O'Malley Dillon remarked, noting it would follow the same format as the one he praised after participating in June.

CNN reported that this debate would take place in Atlanta and mirror the Trump-Biden debate setup. Meanwhile, President Biden's underwhelming performance in June led to significant pressure for him to step aside, which he did on July 23, endorsing Harris.

Additionally, the vice presidential candidates—Governor Tim Walz and Senator JD Vance—are set to debate on October 1, hosted by CBS News.
